This is most assuredly a work in progress. The idea is to digitize and archive all of the cassette releases I can get my hands on from the great home-recording boom of the mid-90s. This site will serve as both a catalogue of these recordings, and ultimately I hope to make the music itself available here in MP3 format. These tapes are nearly impossible to come by these days, and many of us who were involved in that community remember the time (and it's cultural output) quite fondly. This is an attempt to preserve that music which would otherwise have little chance of surviving.

Amateur Garage Bands From The 60's

Did you have a garage band back in the 60's between 1965 and 1970? With the advent of the British invasion, it seemed like there was a rock and roll band on every block in those days. Tons of kids were buying guitars, amps, and drum kits, loading up old beat up vans or their parents station wagons and heading out to local parties, teen clubs and dances all across America. They were crankin' up their amplifiers and those Fender and Gibson guitars seeking fame and fortune. They were playing songs by groups like the Beatles, Animals, Byrds, Rolling Stones, Electric Prunes and of course, the whole psychedelic thing.Musician/Authors Keith Buckley and Dan Angott are looking for those kids, all grown up now and possibly enduring their own kid's band practice sessions in the basement, to contribute to their web site/book project:

PLUXUS IN RUSSIA
In 2 days Pluxus leave for -25 degrees Celius, perestroika, nasty vodka, Kalashnikov AK-47s and 200 kilo synthesizers on the Transibirian Railway. Here are the tour dates:

6 Dec - Moscow, La Luna Club
7 Dec - Nizhny Novgorod, the 5th element club
11 Dec - Perm , Sbity Lyotchik Club
12 Dec - Kirov, Pobeda Club
13-14 Dec - Izhevsk 2nd electronic music festival

The tour is arranged by Kama Records/Morzefish Creative Group and it is supported by the Swedish Institute. Joining Pluxus on all dates is Flowchart (Fuzzy Box records, US). The festival in Izhevsk also presents Jon Shaw of Ultravinyl records (UK) and several Russian electronic acts including Species of Fishes, Klutch, Klax and D-Pulse.
